To add realism to her next picture Barbie, director Greta Gerwig utilised real sets. The producers just confessed that they triggered a worldwide pink paint scarcity.

Greta’s Barbie is inspired by Mattel’s pink Barbie doll. Sarah told Architectural Digest that she wanted to construct a “upscaled Barbie’s Dreamhouse children’s play set” without doors or walls.
“I needed the hues of pink to be bright and cheerful and all of it to be almost overpowering as not to forget what caused me to love Barbie as a little girl,” she said. Rosco bright paint ran out. Sarah Greenwood, the film’s production designer, observed, “The world… ran out of pink.”
